Brad Stevens was interviewed postgame after the Celtics’ 109-104 loss vs the Brooklyn Nets. Stevens talked about the Nets’ fastbreak success, Boston’s turnover issues, and how Evan Fournier felt in his first game back.
The Celtics were outscored 32-0 by the Nets on the fastbreak in this one. He was asked about it during his press conference. “We got killed” he said. “Turnovers are a big part of that from our defensive perspective.”
Boston turned the ball over 19 times, and it seemed as though most of them came in key moments. “When you turn the ball over 19 times… it’s hard to comeback,” said Stevens. “When you’re coming back you gotta be nearly perfect...turnovers have to improve, transition defense has to improve.”
Stevens also commented on swingman Evan Fournier. This was Fournier’s first time back on the floor after missing nine games due to COVID. Stevens talked about Fournier’s performance, and also said he checked in with him throughout the game. “We just don’t have time to practice… he’s gotta play, he’s gotta get himself up to speed,” said Stevens. “He said he was pretty winded out there.”
